Linda Armantrout Artist Statement
In the Power Image Series, I use the the form of the moving horse as a
metaphor for the power of God. My process includes meditation,
sketching, drawing, and color squares. I paint in the studio, mixing color
on the palette and brushing oil paint on large canvases. I manipulate line
to make energy visible. I manipulate color to make emotions visible.
The Glory Series is about the coexistence of the divine and the mundane.
Previously, I painted an immediate and spontaneous series of 5”x7” impressions
(Playing in the Key of Light). I used primed masonite board, and mixed
the colors with palette knife directly on the board. The 12”x12” Glory Series
is an explosion of those images with that technique and an expression
of my inner nature. The forms become abstracted by scale and deletion.
The color is perceptual.
I paint to make a connection to Source, to nature, and to others. Color is
my primary element. I am passionate about oil painting and pursuing
luminosity of color.
As Kandinsky said: "A work of art consists of
two elements, the inner and the outer. The inner is the emotion in the
soul of the artist; this emotion has the capacity to evoke a similar emotion
in the observer."

Come by and see me and have some fun in and out of great galleries.
Third Friday is collectors night in the District. Be sure
to introduce yourself to Carla! This gallery was called the best in the Art District

"Nicole Fox wins "America's Next Top Model"
Nicole Fox, an art student of Linda Armantrout, won Cycle 13
of America's Next Top Model in November. Nicole used hard work, strong intuition, and thoughtfulness to apply
principles to the elements of design to her work on the show and added this success to her
many other accomplishments. We can't wait to see what you do next, Nicole! Congratulations!

Good news, Linda Armantrout selected for NCAR Gallery 1 in November, 2009.
The body of work titled "Horse Power as Spirit" was selected for a solo exhibition in November, 2009,
at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR Gallery 1).
I hung the Power Images and the Glory Series, "Horse Power as Spirit",
with the additional piece, "Connection to Ancestors II" (67"x88" oil on canvas).
NCAR Gallery 1 has really good gallery hours. The drive up into the foothills
and the views from the gallery are stunning.
NCAR Art Galleries are located in NCAR's Mesa Laboratory
1850 Table Mesa Drive, Boulder, Colorado. We had out of state traffic. The
Boulder Camera chose the show as Pick of The Day and alerted everyone to make the stunning drive up to the foothills.
Hope you made it!
